Reconciliation – background
The reconciliation rule change has been signed off by the Minister of Energy and came into effect on 1 May 2008.
The reconciliation project, amongst other things, changes the market reconciliation process from differencing reconciliation to global reconciliation and introduces a new compliance regime. The retail market will be reconciled using all meter readings, not just those submitted by the non-incumbent retailers and any unaccounted for electricity will be shared amongst buyers. In addition, there will be links between the registry and reconciliation systems that will enable the allocation of unaccounted for electricity to be done on a fair basis.
