Transmission Pricing Advisory Group

The Transmission Pricing Advisory Group (TPAG) was founded in 2004 to:

  • provide advice on the transmission pricing methodology (TPM) proposed by Transpower;
  • consider and develop rule change proposals affecting sections IV and V of part F of the rulebook as determined by the workplan; and
  • provide comment as necessary to advisory groups whose work impacts on transmission pricing issues.

Because of the complex nature of transmission pricing, the industry benefited from the Commission receiving technical advice from TPAG before undertaking wider industry consultation on Transpower’s proposal.  The Commission believe that it resulted in a more efficient and meaningful consultation with the wider industry.  The work on the TPM is now largely completed and the Commission has therefore decided to dis-establish the TPAG.

The members of the TPAG were:

  • Carl Hansen (Chair)
  • Graeme Ancell (Transpower)
  • Simon Coates (Contact Energy)
  • Nevill Gluyas ( Meridian Energy)
  • Neil Williams (Mighty River Power)
  • Duncan Head (Vector)
  • Ray Deacon (Comalco)

John Gleadow, Senior Advisor Transmission, was the Commission’s representative on the group.
