The Market Design Review is a significant project for the Commission, examining opportunities to improve the design of the wholesale and retail electricity markets in New Zealand.
This work follows on from the Market Design Issues paper issued in May 2007.
The Commission is currently seeking feedback from stakeholders on possible options for addressing concerns identified from the Issues Paper and proposed future actions presented in this Options consultation paper. This information will be used to assist in deciding on the preferred options for moving forward.
As well as input via written submissions, the Commission is providing an opportunity for input through a public briefing as the consultation progresses.
Submissions on the consultation paper are due by 5pm on 1 September 2008. Please note that submissions received after this date may not be considered. The Commission requests that submissions are provided in electronic format (Microsoft Word). The electronic version should be emailed with “Market Design Review – Options Paper Consultation” in the subject header to submissions@electricitycommission.govt.nz.
