As foreshadowed in the Statement of Intent for 2006-09, the Electricity Commission has commenced a Market Design Review project to review the performance of the electricity market, and identify any modifications that maybe desirable to improve its performance. As the first step in the Review, the Commission has prepared the Issues Paper (see link below).
The Commission now seeks feedback from stakeholders on the information and observations presented in this Paper. This information will be used to assist in identifying the elements of the current design that are performing satisfactorily and those where improvement can be made.
As well as input via written submissions, the Commission expects to provide opportunities for input through forums and/or briefings as the consultation progresses. Further information will be provided shortly.
Submissions on the consultation papers were originally due by 5pm on 29 June 2007. Please note that this date has now been extended to 5.00pm on Friday 20 July 2007 to allow time for the Commission to host public briefing sessions on the information contained within the issues paper.
Please note that submissions received after 20 July 2007 may not be considered. The Commission requests that submissions are provided in electronic format (Microsoft Word). The electronic version should be emailed with “Market Design Review Issues Paper Consultation” in the subject header to info@electricitycommission.govt.nz.
