Scarcity pricing and compulsory contracting: options [Closing date: 2009/12/07 17:00:00 GMT+13]

There are concerns that existing market arrangements are failing to provide adequate measures to support security of supply – particularly in dry years.
Two options to address these concerns – scarcity pricing and compulsory contracting – are now being consulted on.
Submissions on the proposal are invited by 5pm on 7 December 2009.
The preference is to receive submissions in electronic
format (Microsoft Word). The electronic version should be emailed with "Consultation - Scarcity pricing and compulsory contracting: options" in the subject header to submissions@electricitycommission.govt.nz. If submitters do not wish to send their submission electronically, they should post it in hard copy form to:
