The Commission has prepared this Initial Statement of Opportunities as a draft for consultation (draft Initial SOO) and invites submissions on it, including:

• its contents;
• the approach taken by the Commission in this document;
• any other matter which should be considered by the Commission in finalising and publishing it; and
• suggestions for different approaches for future SOOs.

The Commission has included in Appendix 8 of the document, a set of specific questions on this draft Initial SOO, and invites submissions in relation to these questions in particular.  Submissions must be in writing and be received by the Commission on or before 5pm on Friday 10 June 2005.

The Commission’s preference is to receive submissions in electronic form (Microsoft Word format and pdf) and to receive one hard copy of the electronic version.  The electronic version should be emailed with the phrase “Submission on draft Initial SOO” in the subject header to info@electricitycommission.govt.nz, and one hard copy of the submission should be posted to the address below:

The Commission will acknowledge receipt of all submissions.  Please contact Jenny Walton if you do not receive electronic acknowledgement of your submission within two business days.

Your submission is likely to be made publicly available on the Commission’s website.  Submitters should indicate any documents attached in support of the submission in a covering letter, and indicate clearly confidential information provided to the Commission.  All information provided to the Commission is subject to the Official Information Act 1982.
