Wind generation projects

The Commission commenced two wind generation projects in 2005.

• The Tactical Project considered whether any immediate rule changes were required to Part G or Part C of the Electricity Governance Rules in order to accommodate the connection of further wind generation in the lower North Island while maintaining the integrity of the New Zealand power system and electricity market.

• The Wind Generation Investigation Project (WGIP) was established to determine appropriate means to accommodate the connection of further wind generation over the next 5-10 years, while maintaining the integrity of the New Zealand power system and electricity market. The WGIP will be completed during 2007.
