Modelling and Forecasting

The Commission's Modelling and Forecasting group provides historical and forecast information to the Commission and to the wider industry. The main areas covered by the group are:

• The Centralised Dataset - the Centralised Dataset contains historical metering, market related, hydrological, and network related data. The Dataset is available on request.
• Grid Planning Assumptions (GPAs) - including demand forecasts and generation scenarios
• Demand Forecasting
  
• Generation expansion model (GEM) - used in the preparation of the GPAs
• Support for Part F processes – see Transmission area

A summary of the Modelling Group’s work in progress is also available. This page currently includes the Group’s previous work relating to preparing draft Grid Planning Assumptions, a medium-term demand forecast for Security of Supply purposes, work on wind integration and electric vehicles, SDDP datafiles for hydrothermal modelling, an in-development capacity model, and a link to material on the Transmission to enable Renewables project.
