Modelling and Forecasting

The Commission's Modelling and Forecasting group provides historical and forecast information to the Commission and to the wider industry. The main areas covered by the group are:

• The Centralised Dataset - the Centralised Dataset contains historical metering, market related, hydrological, and network related data. The Dataset is available on request.
• Grid Planning Assumptions (GPAs) - including demand forecasts and generation scenarios
• Demand Forecasting
  
• Generation expansion model (GEM) - used in the preparation of the GPAs

As part of the Commission’s ongoing aim to improve access to quality data in the sector, the Commission hosted a technical workshop covering recent work on wind and hydrology data in Wellington on 25 June 2009.
