Draft Grid Planning Assumptions (GPAs) released in May 2007

In September 2006, the Commission developed draft grid planning assumptions (GPAs) as an initial step in preparing the next Statement of Opportunities (SOO).  This included the preparation and publication of demand forecasts and four generation scenarios for consultation with interested parties.

In May 2007, the Commission decided to delay the publication of the next SOO until the NZ Energy Strategy was finalised.  However, the Commission at the time confirmed and published the demand scenarios that were developed and consulted on in September 2006, and wrote to Transpower to confirm that it should use the draft GPAs as the starting point for analysis in applying the Grid Investment Test (GIT) to any new investment proposals.

This page contains the information that was provided to Transpower in May 2007.
The detailed inputs and assumptions that Transpower will actually use for the application of the grid investment test to each grid investment proposal are published by Transpower on its Grid New Zealand website: www.gridnewzealand.co.nz
