Wind Integration Project (WIP)

Introduction

The Wind Generation Integration Project (WGIP) made a number of recommendations to integrate wind generation into New Zealand’s power system, particularly in relation to the provision of accurate pre-dispatch information and the ability of the power system to handle large scale unpredicted changes in wind generation.  The Commission has established the Wind Integration Project (WIP) to develop appropriate arrangements

Project Plan

The Board approved the Wind Integration Project Plan pdf [476 KB] at its meeting on 23/24 September 2008.

Consultation

The Commission published a Wind forecasting and market integration options consultation paper in March 2010.

Submissions were generally in favour of the Commission's view.

Presentations

Wind Integration Workshop

The Commission's conclusions following submissions on the wind forecast and market integration options consultation paper were presented to the New Zealand Wind Energy Association's Wind Integration Workshop held in Wellington on 11 August 2010.

Wind Energy Conference 2010

The Commission gave a presentation on the contents of its wind forecast and market integration options consultation paper to the New Zealand Wind Energy Association's 2010 conference.

Wind Energy Conference 2009

The Commission gave a presentation pdf [188 KB] on the Wind Integration Project to the New Zealand Wind Energy Association's 2009 Conference.
